Guys. IT’S MARCH. How did this happen?! Wedding season is about to come at us full force, but I am still swooning over this wedding from February. Ashley and Derek tied the knot at Rancho Mirando and it was absolutely dreamy. This was also our first VLOG of the year…Travis really loves to vlog and the creative process afterwards and he truly has such a good eye for video. Did you know that he traveled to India some years ago with a fellow photographer, shot video for the first time in his life and the short film went on to win SO. MANY. AWARDS? I am still so proud of it years later and you can watch it here:Cloth Paper Dreams
BACK TO THESE LOVEBIRDS: I knew I recognized Ashley but I couldn’t put my finger on where…later in the day it was mentioned that she competed on America Ninja Warrior and THAT IS OUR FAVORITE SHOW to watch with our kids! I suddenly felt like I was photographing a celebrity, ha! These two are just so kind and giggly. I mentioned in their engagement blog (here) that they had such a noticeable chemistry, and that held true on their wedding day. They never took their eyes off one another, and their laughs together were endless. It’s so comforting to be able to photograph couples on the first day of the rest of their lives together, and A&D couldn’t have been sweeter.
Their wedding had some personal touches that were so fun to capture, from their amazing grooms cake (fit for a deep sea fisherman!) to their wedding invitations. Their wedding was riddled with notes of deep blue everywhere…even their champagne! Without these amazing vendors, this day wouldn’t have been possible, so check out these links if you’re in need of some wedding inspiration:
At every consultation with a new client I try to express just how important an engagement session is. Not only is it the only professional photos you will probably have done while you engaged ( and to most couples the only professional photos they have of them together ) it is a great way for the couple to work with us before the day of the wedding. It can be so stressful having your photo taken and on the day of the wedding you want to feel so comfortable you forget we are photographers! Sessions like this justify all of my beliefs, that having an engagement session before can really help calm nerves on the wedding day.
“I am not good at taking pictures” is something I hear from almost every single one of our Grooms. I get it, I hate having my photo taken too ( Travis might disagree ) but most of the time it’s not having your photo taken that is the bad part but how you feel while having your photo taken. Thats where we step in and do our thing, if we do it right you feel like we aren’t some photographer you found because you are getting married but someone you have known for a long time who is invested into your relationship. Alex and Rachel are getting married this coming April and I can tell you for sure we are going to have a great time with these two! See you both soon!
Nina and I have been in Austin for almost our whole lives! Well, she was born and raised here and I “came as quick as I could” when I was 10 but I feel like I’ve grown up here. This place is our home and as it has grown we have seen more and more brides coming from out of town! I remember when Austin only got busy during SXSW but now it seems like there is some festival every weekend and its popularity has skyrocketed! Seriously cranes have become a part of the Austin skyline, and out of town clientele has become a huge part of our business. Erica and Alex came all the way from Washington D.C for the bluebonnets and their session couldn’t have been better. With crisp sunny skies and a very blossoming bluebonnet season, everything was in place to create this beautiful session:
Can you guys believe 2017 is long gone?! This year has completely gotten away from us. Our little business nugget was busy and thriving (no complaints here!) but our personal lives were so swamped, this blog of ours didn’t get much lovin’. We plan on posting some LONG overdue weddings from last year, and what better way to kick off 2018 with our first wedding of 2017? It’s crazy to see how consistent out style is yet how its evolved this past year.
Jenny and Jordan tied the knot almost a whole year ago at Kindred Oaks in Georgetown, TX. It’s not every day that there is a kidney cake, and I thought it was just an inside joke at first! Turns out, Jordan was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy just a year before their wedding and underwent a kidney transplant (his dad was his living donor!!) six months before their wedding day! You would never know… he was healthy and in good spirits and they couldn’t wait to start their life together as husband and wife after such a dramatic health scare. After peaking at these photos again, I want to start forcing some more emerald green bridesmaid dresses and engraved gold flasks…
If you follow our blogs at all you know the last post talked about reuniting with high school friends through our career and then I found this! This is a special one because both Nina and I knew the Groom ( Joey ) from high school, on a side note I also knew Lenzie from waaaaay back in Middle school. Lenzie and Joey joined together at Kindred Oaks which seems to be a highly blogged location in our past as I keep looking through our previous year ( keep it up Kindred ). Nina has always been a better writer than me so I will just keep this short, enjoy the photos and as always a huge shoutout to the amazing vendors that make these weddings possible.
Fact: This blog post has been sitting in the queue for months and months, waiting to be published. Fact: It took me almost six minutes on google trying to find the word “Que” only to realize I have been spelling it wrong my entire adult life. Fact: One of my favorite parts of this career path is getting to be an intimate part of friends weddings and when Dustin asked us to photograph his wedding we were more than honored. Dustin and I went to high school together and were on the ice hockey team (yes, even in Texas.). Their day at The Lookout was so personalized and special, complete with an entire field of bright yellow wildflowers and his grandfathers vintage truck as their getaway car. I love my career but I love it even more when I get to bless those whom I used to body check on the rink. Congrats Dustin and Henrietta, you two rocked!
To all the amazing vendors who made the wedding possible: a huge Thank you!
