6 Tips To Prepare for your Wedding Day Photography

January 4, 2019

We all have seen it happen. The calmest, most sweet bride you have ever met shows up to the wedding and stress has turned her into Mary Katherine Gallagher. Weddings are an event like no other, with so many moving parts and family members from all over stress levels can run extremely high! Luckily there are some things you can do before the wedding to help make the wedding day go smoothly and make sure you look your best.

1.Go With The Flow

You have already put the pieces into play, from hiring the right vendors to setting up decor. In these wedding moments there is nothing more you an do…. and something will go wrong! Thats the fact of having so many moving parts flowing together, somethings just don’t happen the way they are supposed to. But remember the wedding day is about your MARRIAGE not the mirage of a beautiful wedding! Focus on marrying your best friend and no matter what kink is in the system, it will all end up just fine.

2. Embrace The Moment

This is a once in a lifetime event and you want to embrace it! Yes some things may feel odd, and yes it all can seem like a blur when you’re in it. Take some time to just sit back and notice all you have put together! Have fun with your friends and family, remembering all the while that your important moments are being captured for you to remember for a lifetime.

3. Do Your Hair To Your “Best Side”

This is a trick we like to tell all of our brides. Most women have what they consider to be their “best side”. Whether its the right or the left make sure you do your hairstyle accordingly so that your “best side” is the open side of your face when doing the photography. There is nothing worse than looking back on your images and not being able to see your face in the photos! You want to show off all of your beauty so make sure you plan for it!

4. It May Feel Weird But It Looks Great!

Wedding Photography is a science, from posing to lighting everything must come together to create that magical image. Sometimes the things we ask our couples to do can feel very weird to them, and standing there being asked to put your foreheads together or kiss her temple can feel strange. Rest assured that it looks amazing from our cameras viewpoint and if you have fun during this strange process the imagery will be a beautiful representation of your day. We strive to make these odd parts fun, though we totally understand what you are feeling! For the rest of the day, forget we are even there….

5. Skip The Spray Tan

No one wants to look back on their wedding images and realize their skin tone makes them look like a pumpkin when next to their bridesmaids. We highly suggest you skip spray tans before your wedding day! Not only does it tend to make you look like an Oompa Loompa but it can mess with your makeup as well. The best advice we can give you if you really want that more tan look is to use a tanning bed wisely. Your complexion is already gorgeous, just be yourself.

6. Schedule An Engagement Session

Every photographer has unique work, and with that a unique way of creating that work. To get a feel for your photographer there is nothing better than an engagement session. Not only does this provide images of you for save the dates and facebook profiles but it gives you time with your photographer prior to the wedding. When you see your engagement images you may like some posing and dislike others. This information can help your photographer tailer their imagery to lean towards the posing and positioning you like best. There is no substitute for time working together to get a true feel for the person you are trusting to capture the most important day of your life.
